Arctic Norway

69.9550° N, 23.3279° E

I spent 7 months living on the outskirts of one of Northern Norway's largest cities, Alta, consisting of roughly 20,000 people. I learnt to be a dog musher and guide through the winter season, and spent most of my down time playing with our 100 dogs or exploring Arctic Norway. It's a world apart up there. Snow falls so heavy roads and bridges can remain closed for days on end. Small houses lay half buried in snow all winter, moose move silently in the woods and dog sleds jingle and glide through paths all around. When you take a walk in the wilderness, all you hear are the distant jingles of reindeer bells, birds overhead and if you are very lucky, as I was once, the blow of a dolphin or porpoise coming up for air.
